Cryptocurrency is no longer a niche topic—it’s increasingly showing up in the lives of clients through employment income, scams, online marketplaces, remittances, and financial stress. This workshop provides social workers with a clear, jargon-free introduction to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, focusing on what matters most in practice.

Participants will learn the basics of how cryptocurrency works, common terms and myths, how clients may encounter crypto (both positively and negatively), and the ethical and practical considerations for social work settings. The session emphasizes client education, and recognizing red flags related to fraud, exploitation, and financial vulnerability—without requiring any technical background.

By the end of the workshop, social workers will feel more confident having informed conversations with clients about cryptocurrency and better equipped to support clients navigating digital financial systems.
