UMB’s School of Social Work is a community dedicated to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
As we work to cultivate a social work community where everyone can thrive, we are asking UMB SSW students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to join us in signing the following pledge:
I pledge to further Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion efforts at UMB’s School of Social Work. I know that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of oppression have no home here, and I commit to learning, practicing, and holding myself and others accountable to ensure that my fellow community members feel safe, affirmed, and respected. I pledge to challenge myself, to sit with my vulnerability, and to put courage over discomfort in order to build a community that centers healing and celebrates everyone’s humanity. I know that whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly, so I pledge to do my part in creating and sustaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where we can all learn, grow, and thrive!
